PHOENIX (October 30, 2024) – An awe-inspiring number of students are signing up for Courthouse Experience but it’s not the students you might expect.
College undergraduates, homeschooled students and community outreach-sponsored groups increasingly want to learn more about the judiciary. Adding these types of students to the traditional base of public, private and charter school classes of middle and high school students is creating a robust Courthouse Experience program that is making a positive impact on the Maricopa County student community.

An epic day for our team, our community and the impact Recess 1083 has had on our students across Arizona the last several years! Congratulations everyone!
Thousands of students returned to school this month, and when they did, they were greeted with a new approach to recess across the state. During this past legislative session, two bills impacting recess requirements in Arizona schools were passed.
In April, Governor Doug Ducey signed Senate Bill 1083. This new bill requires public and charter schools in Arizona to provide at least two recess periods a day for children in kindergarten through 5th grade.

The toolkit includes resources, best practices, bell schedule examples, research, and much more. This can be used as a resource for teachers, administrators, and parents to better understand and carry out Arizona’s recess requirements.

Homework, grades, standardized tests, college applications…it isn’t surprising that stress can run rampant in any high school community. Chronic stress can lead to unhealthy habits that contribute to obesity – even anxiety and depression. A survey by the American Psychological Association found that nearly half of all teens (45%) said they were stressed by school. Stress is something that must be addressed – and Sandra Day O’Connor High School (SDOHS) is doing just that.
SDOHS leadership understands the power of physical activity and healthy living. The school is enrolled in the national Active Schools movement and conducts a Student Wellness Advocacy Team (S.W.A.T.) initiative.

Kids are not participating in enough physical activity, and schools are not prioritizing their responsibility for providing opportunities before, during and after school. Active Schools operates based on the collective impact framework, designed to tackle deeply entrenched and complex social problems, based on the belief that no single program, policy, organization, or government agency can solve them alone.

Core Purpose Consulting's Dr. Chris Lineberry is named the Arizona Health and Physical Education Administrator of the Year/SHAPE AMERICA, 2017.
Gov. Doug Ducey was welcomed by staff and students of Stanfield Elementary School on Tuesday to celebrate the opening of the school’s new fitness center. The small, rural school was selected over the summer by the National Foundation for Governors’ Fitness Councils to receive a roomful of new exercise equipment, valued at about $100,000. The council goes to different states each year to allow schools to apply for a new state-of-the-art fitness center. Like other state governors, Ducey is often the first person contacted by NFGFC when the organization branches out to a new state. While addressing rows of pupils inside the Stanfield Elementary gymnasium,
